Abstract

I love painting abstract because here I can let myself feel and think purely visually in colors and shapes and tap into my inner creativity without having to please anyone. Some paintings have taken years, because I leave it when I don't feel what the next step is and then I pick it up again later when inspiration strikes.

Abstract isn't just random, it's an expression of feeling and energy put onto canvas.

I usually paint intuitively and in that is why abstract comes so natural to me. But sometimes the urge to do lighting studies and more figurative work strikes and this is one of those times. The reference photo is of my Italian cousin in Italy, taken on my 35mm camera. But even figuratively I can't help but make it slightly unreal.
